Innovations Public Charter School is located on the Big Island of Hawaii in Kailua-Kona. Innovations services more than 160 students in Grades 1-8. IPCS offers parents the choice of free, non-traditional, public education in a small school environment. IPCS is best known for its multi-age groupings, inquiry and project-based focus, arts integration, abundant technology, student centered learning, parent participation, and its caring and experienced staff.

For more than three years, our STARS Students have been invited to the IPCS campus on a weekly basis to serve at the 1st and 2nd grade level as "teacher's aides." Their responsibilties include facilitating learning centers, helping students with special projects (such as creating picture books), assisting teachers with various chores, and working and playing with children in a variety of scenarios. Our students go to serve, but often voice the thought that they feel as if they are the ones who are benefiting the most by the experience gained in being allowed to step out of the role of "student" and into the role of "teacher/mentor" for a little while at a very high, professional level.

Mahalo Nui Loa to the wonderful teachers and staff at Innovations and for their willingness to partner with us in the education of both younger and older students alike!
